More Important Than Top Gun

I’m sure you’ve noticed the spate of TV shows cropping up in recent years that show you how to renovate your house / makeover your house in 60 minutes / buy property / sell property, not to mention a million other things. You can miss them really, can you? They are everywhere, daytime and evening, that and antiques shows which now look set to dominate the world for about the next fifty years. Although I must admit that it can get pretty tedious watching basically the same thing over and over again, there are benefits to these property shows, and not all are obvious.

One of the benefits is that sometimes they feature couples who are planning on creating an energy-efficient home, or are looking to renovate their home and transform it in to one big money saving device, which means that millions of people are being exposed to a very good idea. This is the topic of discussion at the following link, so have a look if you are considering doing something similar: http://www.eniginblog.com/2010/07/30/how-to-let-people-know-about-enigins-energy/ What all this demonstrates to us is that the environment really is, now, worthy of being on prime-time TV. Global warming was once a Z list celebrity but soon I wouldn’t mind betting it’ll be competing with A list stars like Tom Cruise for attention.

I myself have pretty much redone my whole house. I didn’t redo the heating or attach a turbine to roof. I did something a lot easy I brought everything second hand. I found a awesome corner sofas for sale on gumtree and the rest I did with my girlfriends left over pain and carpet from her old house. This might not be the best most top of the range redesign, but it looks like new.

Which can only be good news. As much as I loved Top Gun, and the bit with Goose dying haunts me to this day, even I have to admit that the planet is slightly more important than a movie.
