G20 Protest and the rest…

So finally, after more than a year of waiting the results are in. There is to be no police prosecution over the death of Ian Tomlinson, the innocent man battened to the ground by the police on the day of the G20 protest in London in April 2009.

Despite there being evidence on video, despite the fact that CCTV footage recorded what happened and despite photographs and witness statements, despite there being a coroners report by someone who is qualified and works locum doctors jobs, there will be no case against the police. Just how much more evidence does the Crown Prosecution Service need to bring about a case? No wonder Mr Tomlinson’s family have reacted angrily. I would be furious too.

Similarly no charges were brought against the officer who struck a female protester at G20. He looked twice her size and she wasn’t carrying a weapon. At worst she was being lippy. These guys are supposed to be trained to deal with this sort of situation by not using brute force.

I’m no psychic, but my money is on the Chilcot enquiry ruling that the war is Iraq was legal, purely because it could cost the Government too much money in lawsuits if it was ruled that this was an illegal war. But it is the taxpayer who foots the bill yet again.

I’m just wondering what kind of message this is sending out? Actually, I’m not wondering at all. This is proof, in my opinion, that there is one law for “them”and one law for the rest of us.

The men (and it is usually men) is suits and uniforms are protected by the old boy’s network and they can literally get away with alleged murder. How many more incidents will there be before this kind of thing stops? It makes me ashamed to be British. The law is not only an ass, it is there to protect the very people it should be prosecuting. Now ask yourself if you still think that we live in a democracy?
