When email first came out, I jumped at the chance of having my own personal email address. For a while, things were great and me and Hotmail were the best of friends. Then, one day, out of the blue, they came, the devils of cyberspace.
I am talking about a barrage of unstoppable Spam. Like zombies, they wouldn’t die, refused to be trashed, and just kept coming back for more of my patience.
And I didn’t know what to do.
Then, someone much cleverer than me suggested I transfer all my email to a new account. A scary thought, seeing as I have – and always have had – the technical acumen of the average fat house cat.
Here are my top reasons for having 2 email accounts, and you should know them already, so take heed!
1) It allows you to easily get away from people. Say, for example, if someone was harassing you, they’d never know you had that other address with a totally different name.
2) If you get spammed like I did, there is an escape route.
3) If you want to sign up to newsletters and the like, or think you might get junk through by registering at a certain place (especially from bad credit credit cards and all that kind or rubbish that floods your Inbox), direct them to your Junk email account. And voila, less pain and more emails from people you want to hear from.
4) If you do it to begin with you won’t have loads of work to do later on, which is absolutely fantastic. I wish I had read this a long time ago…
